Five New Missionaries Arrive!

3 Oct

Last week we welcomed five new missionaries to our mission – four elders and one sister.  Our sister comes from Tokyo, Japan while the elders come to us from Sandy and Provo, Utah, Idaho Falls, and Alberta, Canada.  All of them arrived healthy and happy.  We are thrilled to have them join us!

The next morning they hiked up Rokko Mountain just up the hill from the mission home.  It is always a spectacular view of Kobe and gives them a perspective on their calls as missionaries.

Training meetings at the church.

After a sushi lunch the new missionaries have an opportunity to “dendo” back to the mission office with an experienced companion.  They love this!  It is their first experience contacting on the street.  They always come into the office high as a kite with stories to tell.  (Our new sister missionary had already taken off with her companions.)

One missionary emailing home to let mom and dad know that he made it safely to Japan.

We are honored to have each one of them sign the “True Disciples – One and All” quilt…promising to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

The trainers anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new missionaries.

Five new companionships!

Don’t these companionships look great!

Must be great to have a constant flow of excited rookies and to turn them over to the seasoned veterans to take them under their wings.

They all look great. But in my biased opinion, there’s one companionship that looks absolutely fantastic! Thanks for your wonderful influence on our son. We’re so proud of him.

    Thank you so much!

It is wonderful to see all the new missionaries, especially my own son, and to see a little of what they experienced when they arrived in Japan and the Kobe Mission.

    Thank you again,

    Sister Zinke,
My name is Jena Anderson and I just received my call to the Kobe mission!! I am thrilled beyond words, and love (LOVE) looking at both your blog and the President’s. I truly cannot wait to come (I enter the MTC on Dec. 28), and I LOVE the Gospel of Jesus Christ with my whole soul. I know it is true and that Heavenly Father has a wonderful work, reclaiming our brothers and sisters in Japan! I know that the Savior lives and loves the wonderful people in our mission so much, I can’t wait to meet them (and hopefully, be able to speak Japanese as well…). 🙂

Just wanted to thank you for blogging and for all of you guys are doing! I can truly tell that you and your husband are incredible people, I feel so blessed. 🙂

(soon to be!) Sister Anderson 🙂
